The Lake Tawakoni Iron Bridge Dam is a reservoir located outside of Wills Point, Texas, it’s one of the largest man-made lakes in Texas.
One evening when I saw a gorgeous sunset happening, I jumped into my car and drove to the dam to get his photo of it at sunset. Unfortunately, no water was flowing over it at the time but it still came out really pretty!
I used to live a few miles from the Iron Bridge Dam at Lake Tawakoni. It was cool living so close to a dam. There was something interesting and mysterious about it to us. It was big, ugly, and had a lot of restrictions for getting near it.
Another day I went there with my brother Sam and we explored all around the dam. Also on a day when it wasn’t overflowing. We even ended up walking on the dam itself and getting some really interesting photos. I know were were trespassing, but we were also careful not to vandalise anything.
In that still water at the base of the dam were hundreds of fish you could see swimming around. Many of them were very large, it looked like a fisherman’s dream. Most of the fish were alligator gar, which are very ugly fish that look a little like an alligator.
My brother and I explored all around it. Walking on the walls, the dam, the squares in the water, we went on everything we could.
I went to the dam on another day to get this photo. Sometimes the dam overflowed with mass amounts of rushing water. It was amazing to see and extremely loud.
Occasionally, after some rain, water would lightly flow over it. I was fascinated by the flows of water over the dam.
