Photos: Old East Dallas Gentrification, Part 7

Old East Dallas has so much character, I wanted to capture as much of it as I could before it radically changed. One of things I found most interesting about Old East Dallas, was how it was so close to downtown and next to wealthy neighborhoods like Uptown and Lakewood without it being affected by them for so many years. It also contains the original wealthy area of Dallas from nearly a 100 years ago, Swiss Avenue, way before Highland Park and Park Cities became the wealthy areas they are now.

It is like its own little city within Dallas. I have found that most people who have not lived in East Dallas seem to be completely unaware of its existence, I always have to explain to people where it is. I have loved living in this area, my experiences here have been nothing but positive and enriching. These two most recent rolls of film I shot of it, I was still focusing on the people and the old buildings I had a feeling will soon be gone.
