I finally had that opportunity to go to Austin, Texas, and explore the city for a couple of days. I saw why people like it there so much. The landscape around the city was beautiful, hilly, and full of trees. Austin also has a lot of really unique bars and restaurants that were so fun to visit.

On our first night there we went to check out the famous 6th Street and then Rainey Street. We quickly realized that Rainey street was a much nicer and more interesting street to bar hop. The street has dozens of houses converted into bars along each side of it. We went in and out several of the bars. Grabbing a single drink at each one and off to the next. Each bar’s unique atmosphere made it really fun to explore as many we could.

Photos Of Rainey Street At Night

I brought my Leica camera along to document some of the sights I saw and do some nighttime street photography. All of the people and neon lights everywhere immediately intrigued me. The street is barely illuminated. Most of the available light eminated from the bars. This dramatic lighting made for some awesome photos. These photos capture the mystery of the darkness of the night contrasting against the neon colorful light. In that contrast of light and darkness, we can see the faces and silhouettes of people moving through the night looking for an evening of escape.
