State Fair Of Texas
The State Fair of Texas is the largest fair in the United States. And one of the largest in the world. In 2021, over 2.2 million people visited the 24 day fair. The fair takes place at the historical Fair Park in Dallas and celebrates everything Texas. There you will find car shows displaying the latest in automobile technology, livestock contests, rollercoasters, rodeos, concerts, and the craziest fried food in the country.
Photographing The Fair
Since I’ve been living in Dallas, I’ve gone to the State Fair of Texas every year. It is by far one of my favorite events to photograph. Each time I go, I love it more and more. To the point, I go to it 2-3 times each year. I’ve even bought a season pass a couple of years ago and went 4-5 times that year. There’s something about being at the fair I love. I really enjoy the crowds, the shows, the rides, the food, and everything else it offers. Of course, I also love eating the famous Fletcher’s corny dogs every time I go. I also have a favorite beer they serve on tap only at the fair called Funnel Cake Beer. A couple of the craziest things I’ve had there so far is a bacon margarita, fried beer, fried PB&J sandwich, and my other favorite, fried Oreos.
But that’s not all I love about the fair. Also, I love seeing all the people, it is one of the most diverse events I’ve ever been to. People from all races, religions, regions and socioeconomic classes go to the fair and enjoy the same space together. At the State Fair of Texas 2021, all those differences contribute to the unique character of the event. Additionally, the fair is extremely rich in color. Everywhere you look, there are vibrant colors in the midst of 130-year-old buildings. All of that makes the fair one of the most perfect places for some great street photography.
