This Sunset timelapse over the awesome Dallas skyline was filmed from the Trinity River levee on a clear beautiful evening.
I’ve been experimenting with timelapse videos lately. I then thought it would be cool to get one of a sunset over Dallas. From taking photos of the Dallas skyline in the past, I knew the Trinity River levee would be the best place to create this sunset timelapse.
Making this timelapse turned out to be much more difficult than I initially thought it was going to be. I didn’t consider beforehand how as it gets dark the photos will get really dark during the sunset. As the sun went down, I had to continuously adjust the shutter, aperture, and ISO. I thought about putting it on auto mode. But I knew that on auto each photo will have a slightly different exposure.
A couple of hours later, I went back home to edit the photos and make the video. I had to manually edit the photos to make the lighting transition smoother. I definitely learned a lot in this process. It’s not perfectly smooth, but overall, I think it came out great.
My friend Josh Braziel wrote and performed the piano soundtrack to this video.
